K'un-tzoh means light pink in the Tzotzil Maya language, spoken by the women who weave these totes in the highlands of Chiapas. Hand woven on a backstrap loom, this gorgeous textile began its life as two humble threads. By virtue of the skill and artistry of generations of Maya weavers, those two threads were transformed by two human hands to become this beautiful bag.

  • 100% cotton hand woven tote.
  • These are sometimes called hammock bags.
  • Bag is 15 x 15 inches and the strap 10 inches long

Woven in autonomous Tzotzil Maya Territory, established by the EZLN, following a coordinated and armed resistance to the enactment of the original NAFTA Treaty in 1994. The EZLN achieved a form of LAND BACK through their resistance and the formation of caracoles, governed by primarily matriarchal leaders. LUZ Collection is in full support of the EZLN and all indigenous sovereignty objectives in the Americas and globally.

LUZ Collection is indigenous made, owned and operated. Although LUZ Collection is not a certified fair trade business, we make every effort to adhere to fair trade practices.

All measurements are approximate due to the hand made nature of this item, each bag is made by a different person and therefore size can vary slightly.
